Hazelnut Cream Donuts 🍩🌰

Ingredients
Dough
- 200ml lukewarm milk 🥛
- 7g dry yeast
- 1 egg 🥚
- 8g vanilla sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 🍬
- A pinch of salt
- 300–350g all-purpose flour
- 30–50g melted butter
Filling & Topping
- Hazelnut cream (Nutella or homemade)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix lukewarm milk with the yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Prepare the dough: Beat the egg with vanilla sugar and salt. Add in the yeast mixture and melted butter. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft, elastic dough forms.
- First rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape: Roll out the dough to about 1cm thickness. Cut into rounds using a cutter or glass. Let rest for another 20–30 minutes covered.
- Fry: Heat oil to 170–175°C (340°F). Fry donuts until golden brown on both sides, about 1–2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Fill: Once slightly cooled, fill each donut with hazelnut cream using a piping bag. Alternatively, slice them and spread the cream inside.
- Dust & serve: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve fresh. Best enjoyed warm!
